About us

Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future: Advancing Nanomaterials Across Energy, Water, Agriculture, and Circular Economy
We are a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to advancing nanomaterials to tackle pressing challenges in energy, water, agriculture, and sustainability. Under the leadership of Dr. Edison H. Ang, our team integrates expertise in chemistry, materials science, and engineering to create innovative solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future. Our research encompasses both fundamental studies and practical applications, focusing on renewable energy, water purification, urban farming, and circular economy practices.

Key Research Areas:

• Energy storage and conversion (i.e., batteries, supercapacitor, hydrogen generation and storage, carbon dioxide utilization and storage, etc)

• Water purification (i.e., filtration, solar evaporation, membrane distillation, etc)

• Urban farming (i.e., sensor, pest control agents, nutrients delivery systems, growing mediums, etc)

• Circular economy practices (i.e., plastic waste upcycling, food waste conversion, textile waste reprocessing, e-waste recycling, etc)

Our Research

Energy Storage & Conversion

We develop advanced nanomaterials for batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen generation and storage, and CO2 utilization and storage to enhance their efficiency and lifespan. Our aim is to improve the integration of renewable energy by optimizing materials for superior energy storage and conversion.

Water Purification

Our research focuses on advancing filtration membranes and nanomaterials to improve the quality and production rate of water purification and desalination. We are dedicated to developing materials that are both highly effective and environmentally sustainable.

Urban Farming

We utilize nanomaterials and sensor technologies to enhance urban farming productivity through advanced pest control and nutrient release solutions. Our work supports sustainable agriculture in urban settings by monitoring plant health with sensors and providing effective solutions for nutrient management and pest control.

Circular Economy Practices

We are at the forefront of innovations that transform industrial and household wastes into valuable resources. Our efforts include recovering critical elements like lithium from batteries and other essential metals from e-wastes, contributing to circular economy practices and minimizing environmental impact.
